Theme Spotlight: Prevention and Education

Our prevention and education theme will work to educate the public about the long term effects of brain injury, hidden disabilities and the struggle patients often have with reconnecting with in their communities.

Long-term ABIs are also common in people who have had sports concussions, falls or head injuries as a young child. Virtually all ABI is preventable. We hope that by educating the most at-risk groups, and wider public, we will reduce long-term brain injury.

This theme is lead by Professor Mark Wilson (leading expert in pre-hospital and acute care, working as a neurosurgeon at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and as an first responder for Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulances) and Professor Julie Mytton (Professor of Public Health at the University of West England, Bristol, specialising in the development and assessment of head injury prevention strategies in children, both in the UK and developing countries).
